Overview

Cellfina is a new, FDA-approved, minimally-invasive procedure clinically proven to minimize the appearance of cellulite for at least three years.

Cellfina treats the underlying structural cause of cellulite by cutting the fibrous bands that pull down on the skin to create dimpling. Similar to a rubber band under tension, once these connective bands are released, skin bounces back for a smooth, firm look. Results can be seen in as few as three days and continue to improve over time, with 93 percent of patients reporting satisfaction after three years.

Surgical Technique

Performed by a qualified physician in an office setting, Cellfina typically takes 45 minutes to an hour. First, cellulite dimples are marked. Then, a local numbing agent is used to numb each dimple location. Then, using a tiny needle, fibrous bands under each dimple are severed. Afterward, patients are able to go about their day, but may want to take it easy for up to 24 hours.

After Surgery

After Cellfina, our staff will provide you with a compression garment to wear home. Patients are encouraged to apply ice after 24 hours to minimize swelling and bruising. They should also avoid strenuous activity for several days after the procedure. Common side effects, lasting up to a few weeks, include soreness, tenderness and bruising.

Cellfina is a one-time procedure. Patients should only require one Cellfina treatment to address their cellulite.

Cellfina does not involve an operating room or general anesthesia. It relies on a minimally invasive, small needle-sized device to treat the cellulite-causing bands just beneath the surface of the skin.

Patients in an FDA study showed significant improvement shortly after the treatment, with results lasting at least three years—the longest FDA clearance for a cellulite treatment.

No serious side effects were reported in the FDA study. The most common side effects reported were soreness, tenderness and bruising. Just three days after treatment, patients rated their pain as minimal and most felt pain only with touch or pressure to the area treated. This minimal pain improved quickly with time. More than 90 percent of patients had no bruising at four weeks.
